After spending close to 20 years either in or serving the corporate world, and helping friends and family decorate and renovate their homes, Laurie established Love This House in 2013, combining her desire to help people with a strong passion for home decorating.
Laurie brings a wealth of knowledge to any work she does having extensive educational degrees (Bachelor & Master Science (Chemistry), Master Business Administration (Marketing), Culinary Arts and certifications (Certified Staging Professional, Certified Colour Consultant, Residential Renovation Project Manager, Eco Professional (Energy efficiency/Universal Design, Downsizing Specialist, Senior Move Manager).
She also actively takes courses through the Alzheimers Society (Gentle Persuasive Approaches, U-First) to be better prepared to work with her senior clients with cognitive disabilities.
Laurie regularly speaks in public about “Living More With Less: Breaking the Emotional Connection with Material Goods”. She tries to help all of her clients get back more value in their lives whether they remain living in their current environment or are moving to a new living environment.
Laurie is an active member of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) and the Mississauga Board of Trade (MBOT).
She is also an active networker and regularly attends meetings with local Business Improvement Associations (BIA) (Port Credit & Clarkson) believing in the philosophy of “give first and give often” to other small businesses.
Laurie believes that “kindness costs nothing”. Laurie actively participates in charitable organizations (100 Women Who Care, Habitat for Humanity Halton Mississauga). Every aspect of her business (The Mikey Network, Canadian Blood Services, Habitat for Humanity, Mississauga Furniture Bank, Alzheimers Society) and personal life (Canadian Blood Services) is tied to giving back to the community.
Laurie believes that the best form of education comes from travel. Laurie has travelled extensively across North America and Internationally. She has been to 6 of the 7 continents and hopes to complete the 7th (Australia) in the near future.
Laurie believes in being active. In her spare time she enjoys playing golf, bowling, power walking and hiking on the Bruce Trail.
Laurie enjoys living in Mississauga for over 28 years, having been born and raised in Montreal. She has been happily married to her husband Alan for 25 years and loves spending time with her German Shepherd Ben.
