With more than twenty years of experience in trades, Tania-Joy Bartlett comes with as impressive list of skills. Not only is she a master electrician, heavy equipment operator and a truck driver, she is also the owner of New Beginnings Contracting Services.
New Beginnings launched in 2018 with the goal to provide all-in-one quality contracting services for the customer and a better work environment for her staff. Tania’s staff are experienced and carry tickets in just about every trade necessary to complete a renovation. Tania believes in growth and education, consistently encouraging her staff to gain new experience, grow their list of qualifications and improve their skills through training and experience. As a result, New Beginnings can offer a dedicated, all-in-one service with qualified trades professionals who are passionate about their work and dedicated to providing a quality finished project for each and each customer.
CHT: What advice would you give young women who are considering a career in the trades?
Tania-Joy: Just do it! If you really want to become a trade person don’t let anyone stand in your way. No matter how many times you are told no, do not give up. Let your knowledge, perseverance, dedication and quality of work speak for you, not what society has dictated for you. Hard work and perseverance will pay off and you will enjoy everyday at work.
CHT: If you could have dinner with any one person, who would you pick?
Tania-Joy: Arlene Dickenson from Dragon’s Den. She is a female entrepreneur, isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, pushes boundaries and juggles life and work better than anyone.
CHT: What inspires you?
Tania-Joy: The people around me, my employees, my customers and everyone I get to encounter in this amazing career.
CHT: What is your favorite room in your house?
Tania-Joy: My kitchen is where I do everything; work, read, eat and watch TV.
CHT: What advice would you give your younger self?
Tania-Joy: To do my apprenticeship earlier!
