If you’re lucky enough to have a spacious laundry room, you might be pondering how to best utilize all that prime space. Here are our four ideas to multi-use your laundry space.
A pet safe haven. Keep pet beds in the laundry room, along with litter boxes, toys, leashes and any other pet gear that you’d rather not have scattered throughout the rest of your house. Go a step further and install shelves for your cat to climb, or a doggy door leading outside.
An out-of-the-way play space for the kids. The laundry room doesn’t have to be all work; why not make it a place to play as well. The nice thing about the laundry room is that it’s usually out of the way, so it’s a good place to keep the kids’ toys and books (and also a great way for you to keep an eye on them while you do the laundry).
Storage, storage and more storage. If you’re a family with lots of shoes, install a wall-mounted shoe rack or use the laundry room to store your sporting gear, outerwear, kids toys or books in hideaway cubbies or stackable bins.
A me-space. If you have the space, why not add in a few couches, some pillows and perhaps a reading nook. Your laundry room doesn’t have to be a place you loath; make it a serene haven for when you need some quiet time, or make it your home office.
