Designer Spaces

Contemporary Update

When Designer Jacklynn Little decided to update her condo kitchen, she knew she wanted something different than the traditional all white kitchen. The existing kitchen offered a practical layout that could not be changed with traditional wood cabinetry that needed a fresh, contemporary update. The goal was to create something bright and fresh but Jacklynn wanted something different than the classic white so she selected a beautiful blue/gray shade for the cabinetry.

To keep the project on budget and on time, she hired a professional painting company to refinish the existing cabinetry. This is a fantastic budget saver if your cabinetry is in good shape and you’re not changing the layout! She also found affordable options for lighting and hardware to accent the kitchen. This savings allowed her to splurge on a high quality countertop and backsplash. These are surfaces that experience a lot of wear and tear from daily use so it’s important to invest in pieces that will hold up over time!

In a small kitchen, every detail counts. Choosing a soft cabinetry color with marble tiles for the backsplash makes use of the existing surfaces to create a stunning design statement. The finished kitchen has a timeless, updated, French feel.
