It’s official! Pantone has dubbed Ultra Violet the 2018 Color of the Year and the masses seem to have mixed feelings about it. The unexpected hue certainly comes as a surprise, especially when compared to the 2017 Color of the Year, Greenery, which was famed for it’s nature-inspired subtly. But don’t discount it yet because Ultra Violet has a lot to offer. Symbolic of visionary thinking, unconventionality, artistic brilliance, and spirituality, this positivity-packed hue is bound to make a splash when integrated into your New Year’s Eve decorating scheme. Keep reading for some applications I’m drawn to.

For Your Wall Decor

This fringy garland works as part of a photo booth backdrop or to cover up the crayon marks your toddler left on the wall. I can also envision it on the backs of chairs, or fastened to the stair railing. I especially like how Ultra Violet is integrated into a fairly classical New Year’s Eve color scheme.
