Sara Augenblick of Model Space Designs shares some of her favorite tips and tricks for modern window coverings.
In the past, the trend towards minimalism brought forth a reduction in the use of draperies but a recent trend promoting comfortable, luxurious living has seen draperies returning to the forefront of design.
Draperies add a finishing touch that help pull together a room and soften the space and custom draperies can do so much more. Working with a window covering professional will ensure that your window coverings allow you to maximize the use of your space with special tricks and tips they have gathered over the years to deal with design issues like odd shaped windows, multi-functional rooms and small spaces. They can offer solutions that will complement your décor and maximize natural light and make the most of your budget.
With the many benefits of custom draperies, both for function and design, it is no surprise that custom draperies are poised to be a hot trend in décor in 2018.
SIMPLY STUNNING
Ceiling mounted rods with fan folded drapes create a clean look without distracting the eye from the statement made by the wallpaper. The color brings out the gray in the wallpaper for a sharp contrast.
FINISHING DETAILS
Decorative Roman shades give the kitchen windows a finished look. We mounted these six inches above the window frames, a great little trick that gives you a designer look without sacrificing the view or natural light.
ROOM TO GROW
Ivory panels with purple embellishments give them a childlike feel but can easily be updated to grow with the child. Both practical and pretty, the panels are paired with blackout shades so Mom can enjoy a few more hours of sleep.
A custom, functional Roman shade turns an odd window into a decorative feature and continues the ivory and purple theme.
