Designer Space: The Perfect Blue Crush

Designed to maximize the use of space, this kitchen creates the perfect gathering space for entertaining.

CANADIAN HOME TRENDS CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE KITCHEN’S DESIGN AND LAYOUT?

VARUN GAJENDRAN We had the privilege of working with some amazing designers for this project. Their client wanted to have two rooms combined to create an open concept space with plenty of work surface. We also integrated amazing storage with a double pantry with roll-outs, a base cabinet corner unit, storage LeMans and spice and bottle pullouts.

This transitional style kitchen has an eclectic modern feel. The brushed gold finish on the faucets and the mix-and-match of brushed gold and nickel cabinet hardware work well with our Churchill-style door. The Churchill, commonly known as Modern Shaker, is a favorite choice for homeowners who want the contemporary look of a shaker door, without going too modern.

CHT WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN ELEMENT IN THIS KITCHEN?

VG We have many colorful displays in our showrooms and though homeowners love the color, very few venture into bringing that pop of color into their homes. We love that this homeowner chose to embrace color!

CHT WHAT IS A COMMON MISTAKE HOMEOWNERS SHOULD AVOID?

VG Plan your cabinetry based on your needs and avoid putting unnecessary cabinetry for “just in case” storage simply because space is available to do so. In this project, the homeowners opted for no upper cabinets, saving their storage space for the bases and the pantry wall unit. The result is stunning!

CHT CAN YOU OFFER WORDS OF WISDOM TO READERS LOOKING TO RE-DESIGN THEIR KITCHEN?

VG Don’t shy away from fulfilling your curiosity. A kitchen is a big investment for anyone. Make sure you ask all the right questions!
