Holiday Glam Designer Space – This contemporary space is home to Designer Yvonne Whelan and her family. As a designer, Yvonne enjoys decorating her home for the holidays and usually changes up her holiday décor every two years to keep it fresh and interesting. This particular look is all about fun glamour, focusing heavily on neutral metallics like silver and gold with texture and a pop of bright color in the form of ornaments, ribbon and throw pillows. This is a great look for someone who wants to change their décor regularly without a complete overhaul. Simply replace the pink elements with another color like blue, purple or green for a completely different look!

We asked Yvonne to share a few of her holiday décor tips and this is what she had to say:

Coordinate The Tree: In the living room, we have a 10′ real tree with gold, white and pink ornaments. I always try to choose wrapping paper that coordinates with the colors and patterns on the tree to create a cohesive look.

Christmas Tree Ornaments Everywhere: Christmas tree ornaments are a very versatile and easy to change decorative item. I used small pink ornaments to dress up the tablescape and stockings. I also used a collection of ornaments in a hurricane glass to add a festive touch to the living room coffee table along with a few well-placed ornaments on side tables. Ornaments, especially simple glass balls, can be very inexpensive making them a great way to add holiday flair without breaking the budget!

Throw Pillows: Throw pillows are always a great way to update your décor – and they don’t have to be holiday pillows! I added a few gold and pink pillows to carry the color of the ornaments on the tree across the room and that did the trick!

Stockings: I like to have a little fun with stockings. They don’t have to be traditional and they don’t have to be identical. Create visual interest by choosing stockings in a variety of colors and textures that still coordinate well.

Share with Friends: If you would like to update your holiday décor but don’t have the budget for a full overhaul – one fun option is to swap with a friend! You both get to try out a new look for the holidays without as much expense.
