  • ¼ cup raw sugar
  • ½ teaspoon food coloring
  • luster dust


  1. Mix sugar and food colouring in a bowl.
  2. Add luster dust until desired shine.
  3. Spread on baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 350°F
  5. Break clumps apart until you reach a sand-like consistency.

  2. Hello Betty – you can usually get silver using equal parts blue and black food dye. You’ll have to experiment to get the shade you want.
