CANADIAN DESIGN is hard to define. There are so many cultures in Canada that there is not just one specific design aesthetic. One of the most beautiful things about design is that it is subjective. Everyone has different styles and tastes that are greatly influenced by fashion, trends and climate. These play into the uniqueness of every project we complete.
OUR LOCATION HAS A HUGE IMPACT on design. We have to keep in mind the climate we have in Canada. In some areas, we get heavy snowfall in winter. This means most of our designs must incorporate mudrooms. Due to our climate, we need this area to store heavy outerwear, large boots and all equipment needed for our cold winters! We have to always design for drastic weather changes!
ONE THING I LOVE ABOUT SASKATCHEWAN is the sense of community everywhere you go. We work with so many amazing people across the province. The prairies, often considered plain, can be extremely beautiful. Our province is so full of color and vibrance, it is known as the “Land of the Living Skies.”
I WOULD LOVE TO DESIGN A PROJECT somewhere in the mountains! The different types of landscapes, terrain and color schemes! I would love to do a log cabin. There are so many different architectural and design elements you could incorporate and would need at a different altitude.
