Kitchen Tips & Tricks

Create a splashy drink for every occasion

With summer months filled with outdoor extravaganzas, party hosts are always looking for new ways to make their event a memorable one. This season, put a twist on your sunny celebrations by inviting your guests to escape the heat with some homemade breezy summer drinks. Minute Maid makes it easy with their signature summer recipes and get-the-party started tips.

Backyard barbecue bashes

Take the work out of hosting by laying out all the plates, cutlery and condiments in advance. By encouraging a self-serve atmosphere, you can spend time with your guests instead of serving all night. Complete the meal with a cool and colourful blender drink perfect for a summer’s eve. In a blender, stir in: : 1.5 cups of coconut milk, 1 can 250mL Bacardi Mixers Margarita frozen concentrate (unthawed) and 1 cup of white rum (optional) thenpulse until frothy, about 1 minute. To add some fun summer flavour, pour thawed limeade frozen concentrate into ice cube trays, freeze and serve with beverage.

An elegant garden party

Enjoy your garden by inviting the girls over for an afternoon of light snacks and refreshments. For quick and creative centrepieces, look to place flowers in something other than a traditional vase. Try floating a few fresh floral picks in a small decorative bowl filled with water. For longer stems, place in a colourful pitcher. Make your beverage part of the décor scheme with a pretty purple batch of sparkling grape lemonade. Just combine a thawed can of frozen concentrated grape and concentrated lemonade, 1 bottle of Sprite and 2 cups of water in a large pitcher, add ice and serve. This decorative tabletop will set the stage for a perfect outdoor afternoon.

Summer, the season of showers

Celebrate the new mom or bride-to-be by personalizing the shower theme. Does the guest of honour love cooking? Have all the guests bring their favourite recipe along with a kitchen utensil or cook book. If the mom is expecting a little lady perhaps create a pretty in pink shower complete with handmade rosy invitations, bright table cloths and a cheery pink punch. To make, combine 1 can of unthawed concentrated pink lemonade and 1 can unthawed strawberry daiquiri frozen concentrate, 1 cup water and some ice. To spice things up a little, add 1 cup of white rum (optional).
