Q: In an older home, what is the best insulation project to tackle first?
If your budget is tight and you want a high return on investment, the attic is often the best place to start – especially in an older home.
A basic fix can be achieved by blowing in cellulose insulation right on top of your existing insulation. This will increase the R-value and provide real improvement. If your budget allows, complete a full Fresh Start™. This is our best attic package. We vacuum out your old, compressed and dirty insulation and we install 2” of spray foam insulation to create a complete, seamless vapor barrier that seals up every crack and penetration. We finish off by blowing in cellulose insulation on top of the spray foam to reach an R-50 level. The results are remarkable.
