When finding space is the goal, an unfinished basement can be a potential goldmine! “We often see basements turned into the entertainment area of the house: a big family room, a getaway for the kids, a home theatre, etc.” says Justin of ATD Contracting Services “Everyday needs such as extra bedrooms, a second bathroom, a home office or a home gym are also common.” Basements can also provide opportunity for a second suite which can provide extra income making the mortgage more manageable for young families. Alternatively, an in-law suite allows families to help care for their elderly parents.

If done correctly, a finished basement can add value to your home. “A major project like a basement or addition can be intimidating but hiring a professional will help.” says Justin “We do a lot of the leg work for our clients to make the renovation process as enjoyable as possible. We treat your home like it is our own and use only the best skilled trades specializing in renovations”. An experienced professional will be able to give you a realistic cost projection and guide you through the process to make sure the project runs smoothly without any surprises or unexpected problems.
