How to Ripen Fruit

Cantaloupe

Image 3 of 9

Determining the ripeness of a cantaloupe can be somewhat tricky. The skin of a ripe cantaloupe should tan in colour and the skin pattern should be elevated not flat. The blossom end should be fragrant but not overpowering. If your cantaloupe is not ripe, place it in a brown paper bag at room temperature. An apple or banana can be added to speed up the ripening process. When the cantaloupe is ripe, refrigerate until ready to consume.
