Did you know that, if you sleep 7-8 hours a night, you’ll spend about 3,000 hours a year in bed? If you add time spent reading, watching movies, relaxing, recovering when sick and the many other activities that take place in our rooms, the bedroom is easy the one room in your home that you will spend the most time in! We’ve compiled tips to help you learn where to save and where to invest when planning your bedroom decor.

Step 3: Linens

SPLURGE: There is nothing worse then a perfect mattress topped with cheap, scratchy sheets! Invest in a cozy comforter or duvet and two quality sets of linens (sheets and pillow cases) so that you always have a spare set. You'll want to make sure you have the correct size for your mattress (remember, some mattresses need extra deep sheets!) because no one enjoys waking up in the middle of the nights, tangled in a sheet that's slipped off the mattress yet again!

SAVE: A good place to save is toss pillows and throw blankets. Since these are primarily decorative, you can choose less expensive pieces and easily switch them out in the future to change the look of the room. Another budget-savvy choice is a duvet. Choose a high-quality duvet and simply change the cover when you want to update your room!

SMALL SPACE TIP: For a small bedroom, limit the number of pillows and patterns you use to keep the bed from overwhelming the room.
