The ongoing stresses of day-to-day life are creating a need for peace, relaxation and tranquility at home. Rejuvenation will be the theme that guides our design sensibilities this season. Design enthusiasts are looking to turn their homes into a great escape, creating a space that feels like a spa getaway or a favourite vacation spot.

This theme of rejuvenation is being translated into all kinds of different decor elements. Here are four top trends I forsee for Canadian homes this season:

Blue is the New Hue

From Breath of Fresh Air (Benjamin Moore's official colour of the year) on your walls, to the mix and match of blue tones in your furnishings, the new shade is the one to look out for this yaer. It's a colour that's reminiscent of sunny mid-day skies and clear ocean hues. Don't feel like you have to use just one shade of blue. Blue comes in many different shares so spread it throughout yourhome - just remember to keep the right balance of neutrals and highlighted tones to ground your design.
