The Challenge: We asked two designers to create room concepts using some of their favorite colors and trends for 2020!
Inky Blue with Jil Sonia
This look was inspired by my favorite color trend, a dark, inky blue. This room represents the return of color in design with light neutrals such as a warm white, used both on the walls and trim creates a seamless look. Vary the finishes of the paint to help define the details; select a satin finish for the trim and eggshell for the walls. A colorful sofa, pillows, natural wood accessories, sparkling gold lighting and clean lined furniture help to tie to the room together. For full details and sources, click here.
Seaside Retreat with Gillian Crone
I chose a palette that mixes ivory, white, and blush pink for a look that is warm and inviting but with an air of elegant sophistication. This color palette comes across as nearly monochromatic but the fine details like in the bone inlayed nightstands, wood bead trimmed mirrors, and ruffled bedding give the look a pop of personality and character. We saw a new home decorated with a pink bedroom that my daughter loved so I’d vote for Gillian Crone’s room, though I’d love to paint a room dark blue. I just saw one in Jack Watlin’s distillery in Nassau that I loved.

Of the two, I prefer Gillian’s warm beachy colour palette although I would pass on some of the items like the upholstered head board, shaggy cushion (I have allergies) and beaded mirror which are not my style.
