Meet the Home Owners:

Moana and her husband purchased this 1940’s home just a few years ago after the birth of their first child. The kitchen is the center of the home for this family but two full time jobs and a growing family does not leave much time or money for renovations.

The Kitchen Story:

The previous home owners had tried to upgrade the kitchen but the work was very poorly done. The cupboard doors don’t fit properly and are worn and ugly. At one point, Moana attempted to hide the ugly cupboard doors with old maps and mod podge. The kitchen used to have a window that overlooked the backyard but the previous home owners had the window boarded up.There is very little storage space and the plumbing for the upstairs toilet runs through the cabinets so that you can hear the flushing toilet through-out the kitchen.

The Dream Kitchen:

The first thing that will go in this kitchen will be the hideous cupboards. The couple plan to replace the window that was covered up so that Moana can watch her children play in the backyard while working in the kitchen. Moana’s dream kitchen will have an open concept with plenty of storage and counter space and a huge apron sink.
