Jello Frosting Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 oz package Jello (pick your flavor/color, not sugar free)
- 2/3 C sugar
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 C boiling water (must be boiling to dissolve the sugar)
Instructions
- 1. Put everything except boiling water in the metal/glass bowl of your stand mixer fitted with whip attachment.
- 2. Turn the mixer to high just as you add the 1/2 C boiling water.
- 3. Whip on high for five minutes. I literally used a timer and #10 on my KitchenAid.
- 4. Will frost 24 cupcakes or 9x13 cake.

Just was wondering what sugar is to be used?
what kind of sugar is used
Granulated sugar or powdered sugar?
Granulated sugar. it will dissolve in boiling water….
Hello, instead of egg white can I use egg white powder?
Thanks
I must have done something wrong? I tried to make this and it stayed a liquid goo. It was also a very small quantity of goo, not much for covering 24 cupcakes. Was it supposed to be mixed into a regular frosting or something?
Hello Cris,
It’s hard to say having not been there but what we can tell you is that if you add the water at the wrong time or if it isn’t whipped long enough, those could be the main causes of an issue like that.
Best of Luck
I will be giving this a try as there are a lot of jello flavours out there to try…..each one would would bring a new flavour profile to the cake or cupcakes….maybe even try a swirl with 2 different flavours of icing….
