Trends: 2017

As the year comes to an end, we anxiously await to see what’s in store for 2017. We’ve asked Canadian designers to help us predict what will be trendy in the new year.

“With the onset of 2017, it’s time to say goodbye to the “blues” and replace them with a sumptuous sofa in a rich emerald green. As gold tone metals continue to replace silver in a big way, the depth of a dark green backdrop is ideal for opulent tan and brown leathers, furs and organic accents.”   – Kim Bartley

“Metallics have been a strong trend in accessories for some time, most recently in brass and bronze tones. I believe that the popularity of metallics will continue with copper becoming the new favorite in 2017.”   – Lori Steeves

“The Woven Woods from Hunter Douglas is going to be hot in 2017! Their warm and natural look is a great addition to any room. The Provenance line comes in five styles and so many swatches which make it suitable for almost any style of home. They come in horizontal, vertical and specialty shaped panels that transform sunlight into captivating design statements.”   – Negar Reihani

“Miele’s Combination Steam-Convection Oven has been one of their best sellers. Essentially replacing your microwave, it features up-to-the-minute steam technology, a top of the line conventional oven, and provides a much healthier and tastier alternative to zapping your food. In 2017, Miele will be launching the Steam Combination Oven XXL, with a capacity of about 20L more than the one currently on the market.”   – Laura Stein
