Designer Jennifer Brouwer explains the importance of planning the little details in our homes.

Bedroom

Who wouldn’t want to be the invited guest snuggled up in this bedroom? And it’s only one of six. My intention is to treat each room with a unique element. Focal points come in many shapes and sizes. For this room I created a headboard out of nine framed individual mirrors which I hung as a collection. And presto - a brilliant solution that catches the eye. It took only two rolls of wallpaper to achieve the shell-like opal finish that elevates the small space to an entirely new level. We continued this look with a cheery-looking light fixture. Light airy sheer drapery puddled on the floor adds whimsy and a bit of romance to a wall that reminds one of the sea. My last detail may come as a surprise to some but not to me. I firmly believe that stretching is good for both the homeowners and myself and sometimes the only way to attain that special hard-to-achieve look. Yes! The yellow. Every room needs some of my atypical approach to design, don’t you think?
