How to Style a Room

Designer Jennifer Brouwer explains the importance of planning the little details in our homes.

Office

Industrial chic – one of my most favourite looks! For this office we found a vintage piece, an old work desk which we upcycled. It had so much character and history; it would have been a shame to throw it away. But then, inspiration can be found in many different pieces. I loved the old jar-like light fixture which creates an anchor for the room, tying the new with the old. Chevron drapery, an old pattern but mixed in a new, less conventional way. I love the oatmeal and black texture with the touches of chrome for a bit of chic. The round rug helps soften the edges and keep it all anchored. You will notice a scheme that’s been built by rotating the sections of wood and wallpaper, which wraps the entire room in a feeling of warmth. This cozy and cheerful solution works well in various rooms – any place that needs repurposing.
