QUESTION:
I am a first time home buyer, what should my first steps be to buy my first home?
ANSWER:
Start saving in an RRSP right now. This is still the single best way to save and use a down payment.
Get serious about your search early. Six months out is not too long. Keep in mind spring and summer offer more inventory but fall and winter can be excellent opportunities.
Use your Agent’s MLS web site to search for properties that match your criteria for location, style, and of course, price.
Try the mortgage qualifier app on our web site to see where you stand and how much dream home you can buy.
Be prepared to thoroughly document your income to a lender; try to be sure your taxes are paid and credit cards current. When we take you out to look at homes, we want to know you are qualified and have a good idea where and what you would like to buy.
