As Canadians, we don’t take our warm weather for granted. We stake claim to every moment of sunshine. In cherishing the landscapes we have, we strive to extend our outdoor happiness as much as possible, creating a sort of second home, within reach of the fridge. Be inspired by what’s possible and work with what you have.

A Rectangle has Curves

The majority of outdoor spaces are some version of a rectangle but you can think outside that box to create your dream space. Think zones, angles and curves. By dividing the space into different uses, such as dining, lounging, gardening or play, you can bring unique character to your yard. Add a stepped up layer by raising one section to create definition naturally. Bend the straight lines, pull away from the perimeter, think like string and let the yard take on interesting shapes. Most surface materials can be cut to any specification. By combining stone, wood, grass or earth elements, the space has additional visual movement, textures and life.
