As Canadians, we don’t take our warm weather for granted. We stake claim to every moment of sunshine. In cherishing the landscapes we have, we strive to extend our outdoor happiness as much as possible, creating a sort of second home, within reach of the fridge. Be inspired by what’s possible and work with what you have.

Which Way to the Beach

Sand in your toes, the sound of the water, a crackling fire and s’mores; all without moving your car an inch. By dedicating a portion of the backyard to the low maintenance, natural beauty of sand, you can trade in your lawnmower for a rake. Consider a sunken pit or border the perimeter area for sand containment. A drainage layer and landscape cloth may be needed. Detailed DIY instructions or a landscape architect are recommended, along with a foot washing station, fire pit and camp songs.
